Often you’ll hear people say that they are
a “gold person” or a “silver person”, what they mean by this is their
preference for colour of precious metal and what they believe suits them best.
Silver and white gold are extremely close in colour, though silver is lighter
in weight and considerably cheaper to purchase than white gold. The real reason
one might choose silver chain over white gold is simply the price,
because unless you’ve got both precious metals right next to each other telling

Sterling silver does however, tarnish in time and exposure to certain elements,
silver tarnishes much faster on people who live in hot climates or those who
exercise regularly due to a chemical compound found in sweat that reacts with

of silver, even the Queen’s silver tarnishes from time to time but is regularly
buffed and polished to perfection so you would never know. Tarnish isn’t a
large problem and can be wiped away with a little help from a silver polishing
cloth or a visit to the jeweller.
Gold jewellery doesn’t tarnish in the same
way as silver jewellery does and it takes a to longer to become as obvious.
Silver jewellery goes a dull grey in the worst parts of the tarnish and gold
loses it’s beautiful gleam and slightly dulls in appearance. Taking your
jewellery to a jeweller to have it cleaned every 6-12 months is a fabulous
idea, they can clean your chain completely free of tarnish and debris and they
can also examine whether there are any signs of wear that need to be addressed.
